Irvine Valley's men's tennis team scored its second straight solid win in Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday afternoon at home.
The Lasers defeated Orange Coast, 7-2, to improve their record to 2-5 on the year. Four of the team's losses have come against four-year college programs.
Irvine Valley remained tied for first in the conference standings with Cypress and Riverside.
IVC started the day by taking two of three doubles matches.
The team of freshmen Michael Bott and Thallys Santos defeated Marco Tam and Chris Hasrouni, 8-3, at the No. 1 position.
Also earning a win for the Lasers was the No. 3 team of Alvaro Mantilla and Randy Murphy. The duo defeated Yuma Olsen and Nikith Garikaparthi, 8-4.
Irvine Valley just needed three wins in singles to capture the overall team victory.
But the Lasers got a lot more than that. The top five players in the ladder all scored straight-set wins.
Bott, freshman Jacob Holiday, Santos, freshman William Lu and Mantilla each came out on top in their matches.
Santos gave up just one game in his No. 3 position victory and Holiday only allowed four games at No. 2 singles.
The Lasers play again on Thursday, traveling to take on a tough Cypress team in a conference match at 2 p.m.
