Men's basketball team starts OEC play Wednesday at home

Irvine Valley's men's basketball team starts Orange Empire Conference tonight at home against Orange Coast at 5 p.m.

The Lasers have a record of 3-13 overall and are taking on a 2-14 OCC squad.

The Lasers lost two tough games in overtime in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference-OEC Crossover in mid-December and then lost at LA Valley, 61-35, on Dec. 28.

Sophomore guard Geoff Salas had 17 points to pace IVC against LA Valley.

On the year, Salas is averaging 12.3 points, sophomore guard Isaiah Mahmud averages 8.2 points and freshman guard/forward Christian Louis is averaging 7.7points per game.

Freshman guard Sadiq Muhammad is chipping in 6.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

The Lasers are back home again on Friday, hosting Fullerton at 5 p.m.

Orange Coast last played on Jan. 5 and fell at West LA, 89-85.

Five players scored in double figures with Janathan Ileleji leading the way with 18 points.

Nate Harding contributed 16 points, 13 rebounds and four assists, Milak Skillern added 16 points, six assists and four steals and Jonathan Yardley had 11 points and five rebounds for the Pirates.

On the year, Ileleji averages 16.9 points and 4.3 rebounds, Skillern averages 12.3 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 steals, Leonard Stallings is averaging 12.1 points, Kekai Smith averages 10.3 points and Harding is averaging 8.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for Orange Coast.
