Irvine Valley's men's basketball team's chances at the postseason took a hit on Wednesday night at Santa Ana.

The Lasers were outscored, 29-12, over the final 14 minutes of the game and lost to the Dons, 63-59, in an Orange Empire Conference game.

Irvine Valley's record slipped to 14-13 overall and 3-7 in conference. Santa Ana, which snapped a seven-game losing streak, improved to 9-14 overall and 2-8 in conference.

Sophomore guard Daniel Hernandez led the Lasers with 15 points and two steals.

Sophomore forwards Jake Linsky and Parker Sims each had 10 points and nine rebounds and sophomore forward Zane Paddon chipped in 10 rebounds and two steals.

But the Lasers had problems scoring, especially in the second half.

They shot 25.8 percent (17 of 66) from the field as a team in the game and just 24.1 percent (7 of 29) from three-point range.

It was the second lowest shooting percentage of the season for the Lasers in a game.
In the second half, IVC shot just 23.8 percent (10 of 42) from the floor.

Cameron High was Santa Ana's leading scorer with 13 points while Chris Bailey put in 12 points and eight rebounds.
