Men's basketball team moves to 6-2 with win over Hartnell

Irvine Valley's men's basketball team started the Monterey Peninsula Tournament with a solid win on Thursday afternoon.

The Lasers, ranked No. 15 in Southern California, defeated Hartnell, 72-57, in the opening round to move on to the semifinals on Friday.

IVC took control in the first half, out-scoring Hartnell, 39-24.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 6-2 overall. 

IVC was led by freshman forward Jake Linsky, who had 20 points. Sophomore forwards Parker Sims and Zane Paddon and freshman forward Cameron Griffin each added 11 points.

Sophomore guard Daniel Hernandez and freshman guard Geoff Salas tossed in eight points apiece.

The Lasers will take on Solano in a semifinal in the tournament on Friday at 7 p.m.
