Baseball team ranked No. 19 in in 2021 preseason poll

The California Community College Coaches Association released its preseason rankings for the 2021 season late last month.

Irvine Valley was voted No. 19 in Southern California. IVC was one of six Orange Empire Conference teams to make the list.

The Lasers had a record of 11-10 before the 2020 season was halted last March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

IVC played its last game on March 11 at home, falling to Orange Coast, 10-8, in 11 innings.

The Irvine Valley baseball team and all spring sport student athletes were given their year of eligibility back by the CCCAA due to complications of the coronavirus pandemic. After the shortened season, several Lasers from the 2020 roster committed to continue their education and baseball career at the next level, including Collin Villegas to Cal Poly, Robert Haw to Westmont and Kyle Rawlings to Westcliff.

Irvine Valley is still awaiting word on having a 2021 season. More information will by known by the end of February.
