In leading up to the official start of the 2024-25 athletics campaign at Irvine Valley, which starts on Aug. 23 with the IVC women's soccer team hosting Pasadena City at 3 p.m. and the IVC women's vollyeball team playing at Moorpark at 1:00 pm, Irvine Valley's Athletic Department will count down the top 10 stories from the 2023-24 year.
The No. 4 story on the list for 2023-24 season is Natalia Brandin and Audrey Fowler capturing the Orange Empire Conference pairs title.
Irvine Valley's No. 2 women's beach volleyball pair of sophomore Natalia Brandlin and freshman Audrey Fowler captured the Orange Empire Conference individual title in late April at IVC.
The Lasers had the top two teams battling in the final with Brandlin and Fowler defeating IVC's sophomore pair of Tessa Marocco and Kenzie Dews in three sets. Brandlin and Fowler came out on top, 18-21, 21-14, 15-10.
It was a great two days of beach volleyball at IVC.
Irvine Valley had three pairs move on to the So. Cal. regionals with champions Brandlin and Fowler, runner-ups Marocco and Dews, along with the pair of freshman Avery Bennett and sophomore Mia Bertolone moving on.
The final four teams in the event were IVC's Marocco and Dews and Brandlin and Fowler, along with the Golden West duo of Peyton McBride and Adriana Morales and Cypress' team of Jessica Ferreira and Zoe Ziegler.
Irvine Valley plays again on Tuesday in the 3C2A So. Cal. Team Regionals at El Camino. The Lasers will start with a match against El Camino at 10 a.m. and then play Long Beach City at 11 a.m.
Nine pairs moved on to the 3C2A So. Cal. Regionals at El Camino College.
Brandlin has since signed with NCAA Division I Cal State Northridge for both indoor volleyball and beach.
She was impressive for both squads with the Lasers and earned tons of honors, incuding all-Orange Empire Conference and being named all-3C2A State.
Fowler was also named second team all-OEC with the IVC indoor team last fall.
