Women's golf team continues climb up OEC standings

Irvine Valley's women's golf team continued to move up the standings in the Orange Empire Conference.

IVC finished second in the latest all-team conference match on Monday.

The match was hosted by Palomar at Twin Oaks in San Marcos.

Mt. SAC won the match with a four-player team score of 334. IVC was next, just one shot back at 335.
College of the Desert came in third at 339, Palomar was fourth at 357 and Mt. San Jacinto placed fifth in the nine-team field with a score of 365.

Irvine Valley picked up seven wins to one loss and moved closer to second place in the standings.

Mt. SAC continued to lead the standings with a record of 37-3.

College of the Desert was next at 33-7 and Irvine Valley was third with a record of 31-9. IVC is five matches ahead of Palomar (26-14).

Irvine Valley had two players shoot in the 70's on Monday at Twin Oaks.

Sophomores Hyerin Kim and Rebecca Peng each came in with 6 over par scores of 78. Kim and Peng were in a three-way tie for second on the day.

Kim finished with 12 pars and six bogeys, while Peng scored three birdies, 11 pars, two bogeys and two double bogeys.

Sophomore Stuti Mandal shot 86 and sophomore Liliana Gutierrez carded 93 to round out Irvine Valley's scoring players.

Lara Kyaw (104) and Alexis McLachlan (111) had the Lasers' throw-out scores.

Yi Chen Tsai of College of the Desert was the medalist on the day at 73.

Irvine Valley plays again on Wednesday, traveling to Diamond Bar for a conference match hosted by Fullerton.
