Former Irvine Valley beach and indoor standout Gabriela Griego has continued to shine at Cal State Northridge.
Griego was recently named second team all-Big West Conference for beach with the Matadors.
Griego and her teammate Abbey Sweeting, CSUN's No. 5 pair primarily, finished the 2023 season with a program record 20 wins.
The pair went 15-8 in the No. 5 slot and also finished with a 3-3 record at No. 4 and 2-1 as the No. 6 pair.
With 20 wins as a pair, Griego and Sweeting broke the single season record of 18 wins held by three other CSUN pairs.
Northridge finished the 2023 season with a 17-16 overall record, which tied the record for most season wins in program history.
Griego spend two seasons playing beach and indoor at Irvine Valley. She earned first team all-Orange Empire Conerence honros for the Laser beach team in 2019.
Irvine Valley won the OEC title in 2019. Griego also earned first-team, all-conference honors as an outside hitter on the indoor team that year. She averaged 2.95 kills and 0.51 digs for IVC.
Griego was also named to the CCCAA State All-Tournament Team.
