Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball team had a successful day on Wednesday at home.
The Lasers defeated both MiraCosta, 4-1, and Mt. San Jacinto, 5-0, before losing the final match of the day to Santa Barbara City.
Irvine Valley, playing in just its third, fourth and fifth matches of the season so far, was strong across the courts.
Against MiraCosta, Irvine Valley won on the second through fifth courts.
The pair of freshman Angie Griego and sophomore Gabi Brown (21-13, 21-17), pair of freshman Mia Bertolone and freshman Kayla Torres (16-21, 21-14, 16-14), pair of freshman Tessa Marocco and sophomore Emily Hon (21-14, 21-17) and pair of Kendall Fraser and freshman Alessandra Nitogilia (21-7, 21-3) came through with victories.
The Lasers followed that up with a sweep of Mt. San Jacinto.
Irvine Valley's No. 1 pair of sophomore Barett Nolan and freshman Sydney Dews won, 21-11, 21-13.
And Griego and Brown, Bertolone and Torres, Marocco and Hon and Fraser and Nitogilia followed with victories.
Bertolone and Torres battled back from losing the first set to win in three, 16-21, 23-21, 15-13.
Irvine Valley played well against Santa Barbara City, but ended up with a 5-0 defeat.
The pairs of Nolan and Dews at No. 1 and Fraser and Nitogilia on the fifth court went to three sets.
Nolan and Dews lost, 15-13, in the third set and Fraser and Nitogilia fell, 15-12, in the third.
