The Irvine Valley women's tennis team moved on to the next round of the postseason with a 5-1 win over El Camino in the opening round of the Southern California Regional Dual Team Playoffs.
Irvine Valley, seeded third, will take on No. 2 and Orange Empire Conference rival Riverside next Tuesday in the road in the semifinals.
This will be the third year in a row that the Lasers have made the semis.
Irvine Valley cruised on Tuesday, winning all three doubles matches and then closing the match out in singles.
Irvine Valley got a quick win in doubles from its top team of sophomore Halla Alajeely and freshman Ashley Le. The duo defeated Madi Giese and Lina Ito, 8-1.
Giese and Ito had recently captured the South Coast Conference doubles title.
The Lasers also got a 8-2 win from its No. 2 team of freshmen Alaina Spearman and Sabrina Mendy and the No. 3 team of freshmen Ariyana Ash and Collette Kelly held on for a 8-6 victory.
Irvine Valley only needed two wins in singles to take the overall match.
And the Lasers got those wins from Alajeely, who defeated Riko Tanagawa, 6-0, 6-0, on the first court and Ash, who defeated Danielle Wagner, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5 singles.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 8-6 overall, while El Camino fell to 8-6.
