The Irvine Valley women's tennis team is ranked No. 3 in the first Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association NJCAA Women's Regional Rankings for Southern California.

IVC is coming off of a special season last year.

The Lasers won their second Orange Empire Conference title in program history, were ranked No. 1 by the ITA in So. Cal. during the season, made the playoffs and reached the semifinals of the CCCAA Team Dual Playoffs.

Irvine Valley started the SoCal Regional Playoffs with an easy win in April.

The Lasers also had several individuals ranked in the top 50 in both singles and doubles.

The two teams ahead of Irvine Valley in the rankings were defending state champion Orange Coast and Santa Monica. IVC split matches with OCC last year.

Irvine Valley begins its season at No. 4 Glendale on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.
