Women's soccer team drops its first match of the 2025 season

The Irvine Valley women's soccer team had plenty of chances to score, especially in the first half, but couldn't find the back of the net in a 1-0 defeat to Ventura on the road Tuesday night.

It was IVC's first loss of the season. The Lasers' record went to 5-1-0 overall. Ventura improved to 3-4-2 overall.

Samantha Quinonez scored the game-winning goal on a corner kick, bending the shot under the crossbar for the Pirates.

IVC finished with 13 shots, including nine on goal in the contest.

Freshman goalie Alexa Peterson made four saves in the match for IVC.

Irvine Valley is back in action on Friday, hosting East Los Angeles in a non-conference game at 1 p.m.

The Lasers start Orange Empire Conference action next Tuesday at Orange Coast at 3 p.m.
