Women's soccer team's magical season ends in OT at Cypress

Its season ended on Saturday, but the Irvine Valley women's soccer team still turned in of the best campaigns in program history.

Irvine Valley, the 11th seed, fell in the first round of the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs, 1-0, in overtime at sixth-seeded Cypress.

Cypress earned the win after scoring on a penalty kick in the first of two overtime periods.

The 2014 Lasers still won 12 games, finished third in the Orange Empire Conference and made the playoffs for the first time in 20 years.

Irvine Valley coach Joe Supe was proud of the way his team battled all season long.

Sophomores Kristen Ostler, Courtney Smith, Kailey Ortiz, Tiana Salazar, Celina Chang and Emely Portillo put in a lot of hard work and dedication over the last two years to help lift the IVC program.
