Women's basketball player Kydell Pearson signs with TAMIU

Irvine Valley sophomore forward Kydell Pearson has signed with Texas A&M International.

It is a NCAA Division 2 program located in Laredo, Texas.

Pearson was named second team all-Orange Empire Conference this past season for the Lasers.

She played in 28 games, starting 26 of them and averaged 12.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.

Pearson ranked seventh in the conference in scoring, at 12.6 points per game and sixth in the conference in rebounds at 8.2 boards per game.

She was also 11th in field goal percentage 38.4 percent.

Pearson scored in double figures in 18 games and had 20 or more points six times.

She grabbed 10 or more rebounds in seven contests.

She scored a season-high 22 points in two games and had a season best 17 rebounds in a loss at Fullerton on Feb. 3. And she had a season-best five blocks in Irvine Valley's final game of the season against Riverside in February.

Irvine Valley finished with a record of 11-17 overall this past season.

Pearson averaged 8.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in her freshman year with the Lasers during the 2015-16 season. She helped the team to a record of 23-8 overall, a second-place finish in conference and a trip to the Southern California Regional Playoff Finals.

She is headed to a Texas A&M International team that competes in the Heartland Conference.
