Pearson and Saba picked as second team all-conference players

Irvine Valley sophomore forward Kydell Pearson and freshman guard Serena Saba were each named second team all-Orange Empire Conference at the end of the season women's basketball coaches meeting last week.

Pearson ranked seventh in the conference in scoring, averaging 12.6 points per game, and sixth in the conference in rebounds at 8.2 boards per game.

She was also 11th in field goal percentage 38.4 percent.

Pearson scored in double figures in 18 games and had 20 or more points six times. She scored a season-high 22 points in two games and had a season best 17 rebounds in a loss at Fullerton on Feb. 3.

Saba averaged 9.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

She ended up ranking third in the conference in assists per game.

Saba scored in eight games in double figures and topped 20 or more points three times. She had a season-high 28 points in Irvine Valley's season finale at Riverside. She had a season best 12 assists in Irvine Valley's 60-54 win at Santa Ana on Jan. 4

Irvine Valley finished with a record of 11-17 overall and was 3-9 in conference.
