Women's basketball team falls to El Camino on the road

Irvine Valley's women's basketball team lost at El Camino, 73-53, on Friday night in nonconference action.

Irvine Valley's record slipped to 4-3 overall.

The Lasers shot 42.9 percent (21 of 49) from the field.

But IVC was out-rebounded, 46-29, and turned the ball over 23 times.

El Camino had 25 of its 46 rebounds on the offensive end, which led to second and third shots.

The Warriors also only had eight turnovers.

Sophomore guard Aaleah Brown continued to play well. She finished with a team-high 17 points and is averaging 14.7 points per game on the season.

Brown has scored in double figures in six straight contests.

Freshman guard Serena Saba added 15 points and four assists and sophomore forward Kydell Pearson contributed eight points and eight rebounds.

Freshman forward Kiara Warren ended with six points and six rebounds and freshman guard Shayla Cohen had six assists for IVC.

Irvine Valley will play again next Thursday when it opens its own tournament. The Lasers take on Compton in the third game of the day at 6 p.m.

The eight-team tournament runs Thursday through Saturday.
