Men's volleyball team sweeps San Diego City in conference match

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 Pacific Coast Athletic Conference win at San Diego City on the road on Wednesday night.

The Lasers kept their playoff chances alive and improved their record to 8-7 overall and 5-4 in conference with the win.

It was Irvine Valley's fourth sweep in conference and second over San Diego City this season.

IVC got a team-high 12 kills from freshman outside hitter Garret Costello. Costello, who hit .348, also had four digs and two blocks.

Sophomore middle blocker Robert Ryley added seven kills and five blocks and freshman outside hitter Ruben Lopez and freshman opposite Kyle Radecki each finished with six kills.

Freshman libero Josh Evers contributed 10 digs and sophomore setter Peter Van Liefde had 32 assists to go along with four aces and five digs.

Irvine Valley plays again Friday, hosting Palomar in a conference match at 6 p.m.
