Women's badminton team continues to roll in conference

Irvine Valley's women's badminton team continued to roll in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference action on Friday.

The Lasers won their sixth straight contest, beating San Diego City, 19-2, on the road, and stayed in first place in the conference standings over Grossmont by two matches.

IVC is one win away from clinching a conference title.

Irvine Valley didn't drop any matches in singles play, going 12-0. IVC picked up default wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions.

Freshman Emily Yang, who played No. 1 for Irvine Valley on the day, won her two matches, 21-15, 21-7, and then 19-21, 21-19, 21-11.

Irvine Valley's No. 2 player, freshman Chien Tu, won 20-22, 21-19, 21-14, and then, 21-11, 21-10.

Sophomore Anne Olsen and sophomore Jessie Mei each won both of their singles matches in straight sets.

Olsen came out on top, 21-5, 21-4, and 21-8, 21-7, and me won, 21-6, 21-10, and 21-8, 21-7.

Irvine Valley's No. 2 doubles team of Tu and Mei swept its two matches, winning, 24-22, 21-15, and then, 21-6, 21-4.

Irvine Valley is back in action on Wednesday at San Diego Mesa at 2 p.m.
