Men's volleyball team is right there, but falls to Orange Coast

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team was right there all match long, but didn't have quite enough Wednesday night in its showdown with Orange Coast.

The Orange Empire Conference match featured the two best and undefeated teams in conference.

Orange Coast dropped the first set, but pulled out a 22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 29-27 victory over the Lasers.

The contest was close throughout with back and forth points and swings all night.

Irvine Valley got 18 kills from freshman outside hitter Colin Chillingworth, 15 kills from freshman opposite Garret Schnitker and nine kills from freshman outside hitter JT Demure.

But the Lasers hit a collective .212 in the match, well under their season average coming into Wednesday.

Demure added nine digs and freshman libero Adam Schulte had 10 digs.

Freshman setter Andrew Perez contributed 40 assists

The two teams play again on Friday at Orange Coast.
