Men’s soccer player Garrett Hayes to Cal State Monterey Bay

Irvine Valley sophomore standout men's soccer player Garrett Hayes has already made his way to NCAA Division II Cal State Monterey Bay.

The star defender graduated from IVC earlier after the fall of 2021 and has been at CSUMB this past semester.

He will suit up for the Otters next fall.

Hayes was named first team all-Orange Empire Conference after the 2021 campaign, which saw Irvine Valley finish with a record of 9-10-3 record overall. The Lasers played one of the toughest schedules in the state and reached the So. Cal. Regional playoffs.

Hayes, a leader for the Lasers, wrapped up his IVC career with another solid season.

The former El Toro High standout was in his second year, playing for the Lasers, but third at the school. The 2020 season when he was set to be a sophomore athletically, was cancelled due to COVID.

As a freshman in 2019, he was a key starter on the back line and helped Irvine Valley reach the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.

This year, Hayes led the defense and also finished with one goal and four assists.

He will play for a Cal State Monterey Bay team that finished with a record of 7-4-6 overall in 2021.
