Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team swept its second opponent this season and also picked up its second win of the year on Tuesday night.
The Lasers traveled to Palomar and defeated the Comets, 25-17, 25-17, 25-12.
"We played OK," IVC coach Nate Ngo said. "I thought we got off to a little bit of a slow start, but continued to pick it up. We did some positive things and we still have things to work on."
Irvine Valley hit .283 as a team and weas led by freshman outside hitter Taira Ka'awaloa, who had 12 kills, hit .435 and had 11 digs.
Sophomore setter Alissa Blevins added 11 digs and 28 assists.
Freshman outside hitter Hannah Holder also had a solid match with seven kills in nine attempts (.778). And Irvine Valley got two kills and 10 digs from sophomore outside hitter Lucee Fitzgerald and eight digs from sophomore libero Taylor Askins.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 2-1 on the season.
The Lasers play again on Friday, opening up Orange Empire Conference play with a home match against Orange Coast at 6 p.m.
