Women's volleyball team ranked 19th in state in first poll

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team was ranked 19th in the first poll put out by the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday night.

Irvine Valley has a record of 1-1 so far this season and plays again tonight - at Palomar at 5 p.m.

The Lasers are ranked 11th in Southern California.

The top 10-ranked teams in So. Cal. are Grossmont, Pierce, Santa Barbara City, MiraCosta, Cypress, El Camino, Long Beach City, Canyons, San Diego Mesa and Golden West.

And the top 10 in the state are Cabrillo, Grossmont, Fresno City, Pierce, Santa Barbara City, MiraCosta, Cypress, Sacramento City, El Camino and American River.

Cabrillo is the defending state champion.

After taking on Palomar, Irvine Valley opens Orange Empire Conference play this Friday night at home, playing Orange Coast at home at 6 p.m.
