  • No. 9 Story of the Year - Women's soccer program continues rise

    The Irvine Valley women's soccer team made the playoffs for the first time in 20 years this past season. The Lasers won 12 games, had six players named all-conference and sophomore Emely Portillo signed with a Division 1 program.
  • Irvine Valley College athletics places 12th in NATYCAA Cup

    The Lasers end up 12th in the state standings for two-year colleges. It is IVC's best-ever finish in the cup competition. Irvine Valley won state titles in women's volleyball, men's tennis and sand volleyball in 2014-15.
  • Soccer player Emely Portillo commits to Louisiana-Monroe

    Portillo, a two-year starter and all-Orange Empire Conference player in 2014, helped lead Irvine Valley to the So. Cal. Regional playoffs for the first time in 20 years. Portillo was part of IVC defense that had 11 shutouts in 2014.

    Freshman midfielder Berenice Pacheco is named the team's MVP after helping Irvine Valley finish with 12 wins and make the playoffs for the first time in 20 years. Emely Portillo, Courtney Smith and Virginia Hickman also earn awards.

    Freshman midfielder Marissa Rico hits a one-time shot that finds the back of the net from 30 yards out in the 81st minute and Irvine Valley beats Fullerton, 2-1, Tuesday afternoon at home. IVC improves its record to 9-3-3 overall.

    Irvine Valley beats rival Saddleback, 1-0, behind a goal in the 75th minute by former Gaucho player Courtney Smith. The Lasers defeat a Saddleback side that had been unbeaten in its last five matches. IVC hosts Norco next Tuesday.

    The Lasers lose, 3-0, at Cypress in a key Orange Empire Conference match on Tuesday. The Lasers' record slips to 6-2-3 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play. IVC hosts district rival Saddleback on Friday at 3 p.m.

    The Lasers get a goal just 1:14 into the match by Crystal Lefebvre and then two goals later by Rosa Soto Aleman in a 3-0 win at Fullerton Friday. Goalies Nicole Dunn and Yesenia Pulido helped record the shutout.

    The Lasers drop their first match of 2014, losing to No. 3 nationally ranked Santiago Canyon, 1-0, at home Tuesday in the Orange Empire Conference opener. IVC got a solid performance from goalie Nicole Dunn, who made 10 saves.

    The Lasers get goals from Berenice Pacheco, Christina Anderson and Tiana Salazar in a 3-1 win over Pasadena City on Friday at home. Anderson and Salazar scored goals after the game was tied at 1-1. IVC opens conference next Tuesday.

    The Lasers settle for a 1-1 tie with the Eagles, but remain unbeaten on the year. Courtney Smith gave IVC a 1-0 lead early in the second half. Irvine Valley hosts Pasadena City on Friday.

    Sophomore forward Tiana Salazar knocked in a left-footed shot from 25 yards out to lift Irvine Valley to a 2-1 win over LA Harbor on Friday at IVC. The Lasers improved their record to 2-0-1 on the season.
  • Women's soccer team blanks San Diego City in home opener
    September 03, 2014
    The Lasers earn a 3-0 win Wednesday after out-shooting the Knights, 20-1. Kristen Ostler had a goal and an assist and freshman Rosa Soto-Aleman also played well up front. Emely Portillo and Celina Chang led the defensive effort.
  • Women's soccer team looks strong in opener, but ends with draw
    August 29, 2014
    The Lasers had the majority of chances to score, but were unable to find the back of the net in a 0-0 tie at Palomar on Thursday. Coach Joe Supe was excited about the potential his team showed. IVC is home Wednesday vs. San Diego City.
