Irvine Valley's women's soccer team leveled its record in Orange Empire Conference play with a 3-0 shutout win at Fullerton on Friday.
The victory improved Irvine Valley's record to 4-1-2 overall and 1-1-0 in conference.
Irvine Valley had dropped its conference opener to Santiago Canyon, 1-0, at home, on Tuesday.
"We performed really well," IVC coach Joe Supe said of the win on Friday at Fullerton. "I was really happy for the girls.
"I thought we were very solid from start to finish in the game."
Irvine Valley led right from the start.
Freshman midfielder Crystal Lefebvre got IVC off on the right foot with a goal just 1:14 into the contest. She was able to flick the ball past Fullerton's goalie and into the net after taking a pass from freshman defender Marissa Perez.
That was the only goal of the first half and IVC led at the break, 1-0.
The Lasers made it a 2-0 game three minutes into the second half.
Freshman forward Rosa Soto Aleman scored her first of two goals off an assist from sophomore midfielder Courtney Smith.
Soto Aleman was at it again in the 74th minute to cap the team's scoring. She beat the keeper with a shot off a pass from freshman midfielder Karlee Kelso.
Soto Aleman now leads the team with three goals on the season.
Freshmen keepers Nicole Dunn and Yesenia Pulido combined for the shutout. Dunn played the first half and made three saves, while Pulido, making her first appearance of the season for the Lasers, was in goal for the final 45 minutes and made five saves.
Irvine Valley will play again next Tuesday, traveling to Golden West for a 3 p.m. conference match.
