Women's basketball team can't get untracked at Saddleback

Irvine Valley's women's basketball team's record slipped to 0-3 in conference and 11-8 overall after a 61-44 defeat in an Orange Empire Conference game at Saddleback on Wednesday night.

Saddleback improved to 11-8 overall and 2-0 in conference.

The Lasers scored just 14 points in the first half, committed 26 turnovers in the game and shot just 24.5 percent (12 of 49) from the field in the contest.

Irvine Valley trailed Saddleback, 20-14, at halftime.

Saddleback moved out to a 24-14 lead after a layup by Deja Brooks with 16:01 to play.

The Lasers didn't get closer than eight points the rest of the way.

The physical game saw the two teams combine for 35 second-half fouls, with IVC being whistled for 20 over the final 20 minutes.

Irvine Valley was paced by freshman forward Alexis Casillas, who finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds and three assists.

Freshman center Breanna Turner added 11 points and six rebounds and sophomore guard Jasmine Kennon had eight point for the Lases.

Irvine Valley plays at Santa Ana on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
