The Irvine Valley men's basketball team had a record of 2-1 in the Monterey Peninsula Tournament last weekend.
Irvine Valley lost to American River, 61-60, on the opening day of the tournament last Thursday. Freshman guard Mike Turner finished with 18 points and sophomore forward Jacob Dean had 12 points in the defeat for the Lasers. Freshman guard Isaiah Milan added 11 points and sophomore forward Craig Magyar finished with nine points.
IVC bounced back with a big 81-41 victory over Reedley on Friday. Twelve different players scored for IVC.
Milan led the way with 22 points, including 18 points in the first half.
Freshman guard Chris Lott had nine points, freshman center Lamont Tyler ended with eight points and Dean had seven points for IVC.
The Lasers closed out the tournament with a 68-66 win over host Monterey Peninsula on Saturday. Sophomore forward Craig Magyar paced the team with 24 points.
Lott chipped in 12 points, including going 5 of 5 from the free throw line in the second half. Milan had eight points and Dean had seven points.
Irvine Valley's record moved to 7-2 overall.
The Lasers, who were ranked 12th in the state and sixth in Southern California in the last poll, open play in the Cypress tournament this Thursday against LA Harbor.
