Robbie Haw wins NAIA World Series title at Westmont College

Former Irvine Valley star baseball player Robbie Haw helped lead Westmont College to its first ever Avista NAIA World Series title last weekend.

The Warriors defeated host Lewis-Clark State, 7-6, on June 2.

Haw, a senior captain and starting shortstop, scored two runs after walking and reaching on an error. He also stole a base.

On the year, Haw batted .285 with 57 hits, seven doubles, two triples and one home run. He scored 59 runs and had 32 RBI.

"We have gone through so many ups and downs," said Haw on the Westmont site at Westmont College Athletics - Official Athletics Website

"One thing we told each other is that we were going to stick together. Regardless of the decisions we would make, we would make sure the culture of Westmont would stay. That was the main thing.

"We didn't lose anyone. It was a testament to everyone being on the same page together. Whenever there was miscommunication or frustration with what was going on, everyone was together on it. We communicated with each other and we got through it."

The former Calvary Chapel High player was a scholar athlete every semester at Irvine Valley and starred on the mound and at shortstop for IVC during the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Before the season was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, Haw was batting .329 with a team-high .477 on base percentage.
