Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Mar. 10 is freshman men's volleyball player Travis Kaufman.
The opposite hitter helped lead the Lasers, ranked No. 6 in the state, to two wins last week.
Kaufman finished with 18 kills and seven digs in a 25-23, 22-25, 25-17, 25-19 win at Miramar on Wednesday. He hit .303 on the night.
Kaufman then had nine kills and four aces as IVC swept Grossmont, 28-26, 25-21, 25-15 at home Friday.
The two victories improved Irvine Valley's record to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
On the season, Kaufman is averaging 2.88 kills and 1.16 digs per set.
He has four matches with at least 10 kills. The 18 Kaufman put up against Miramar was a season high.
Irvine Valley plays again at home on Wednesday in a big match against No. 3 Golden West.
