Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Dec. 18 is sophomore men's basketball player Luke Farrington.
The sophomore star guard finished with 14 points and three rebounds in IVC's 69-49 nonconference win over LA Valley last Friday night at home.
Farrington has helped lead IVC to an 8-3 record overall so far.
Last Friday, he scored his 14 points in just 21 minutes, going 4 of 6 from the field, 3 of 4 from three-point range and 3 of 4 from the free throw line.
He had nine of those points in the first half to give Irvine Valley a 30-17 lead at the break.
Farrington is averaging 10.3 points per game.
He ranks fourth the Orange Empire Confernce in field goal percentage at 52.7 percent and is first in three-point shooting at 51.5 percent.
Farrington, out of Mission Viejo High, has scored in double figures in five games so far this season with a season-high 16 points in Irvine Valley's 68-66 victory over Cerritos when it won the IVC Classic.
He was named an all-tournament player in the event.
Last season for IVC, Farrington averaged 8.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists for the Lasers.
