Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Dec. 11 is star men's soccer player Lennart Granzow.
The sophomore center back was named the Orange Empire Conference defensive player of the year, first team all-Orange Empire Conference, an all-state selection, all-Western Region and most recently second team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches Association.
Granzow helped lead the Lasers to a 12-4-6 record overall and a 7-1-6 mark in OEC play. The Lasers finished second in conference and were seeded No. 9 in the 3C2A So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.
IVC went on the road in its opening game in the playoffs and fell to No. 8 Mt. SAC, 1-0, in double overtime.
Granzow started all 19 games for the Lasers this season and finished with five goals and one assist for 11 points. He also helped IVC to a 1.51 goals against average this year.
Granzow was also a first-team all-conference and all-state player in the 2022 season as IVC had a record of 11-7-5 record overall and made the playoffs.
