Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Oct. 6 is sophomore men's soccer player Isaac Nixon.
The standout forward scored three goals in IVC's 4-1 victory over Orange Coast last Tuesday at home and then added an assist on the Lasers' first goal in a big 5-3 win at Saddleback last Friday afternoon.
The two victories helped Irvine Valley improve its record to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in Orange Empire Conference play.
IVC has won five of its last six matches and out-scored opponents during that stretch, 22-9.
Nixon was a big part of that with six goals and one assist.
On the season, Nixon, who arrived to Irvine Valley this season from UC Irvine and went to high school at San Clemente, has seven goals and one assist in eight starts.
The Lasers play again on Tuesday when they host Santa Ana in a conference match at 3 p.m.
