
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Mar. 31 is freshman men's volleyball player Bryce Nohava.
The star setter helped lead the Lasers to two wins last week as IVC improved its record to 13-5 overall and 7-3 in divisional play.
Nohava had 40 assists in IVC's five-set, 22-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-19, 20-18 win at No. 2 in the state San Diego Mesa last Wednesday.
He also added two kills and eight digs in the win.
Nohava then had 28 assists, two aces and four blocks in IVC's sweep of San Diego Miramar last Friday at home.
Irvine Valley won, 27-25, 25-14, 25-21.
On the season, the setter out of Amador Valley High in Pleasanton is averaging 9.14 assists per set and also adding 1.47 digs per set and tied for second on the team in aces.
Irvine Valley plays at Grossmont in a south regional game on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
