Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Jan. 27 is freshman men's basketball player Allen Moser.
The standout point guard led the Lasers with 16 points in a 20-point win over Cypress in an Orange Empire Conference game at home last Friday night.
Moser had one of his best games of the season, finishing with 16 points, including 14 in the first half to get IVC off to a solid start.
Irvine Valley and Cypress were tied at 26 at the break, but IVC shut down the Chargers in the second half and out-scored them, 39-25, for the win.
IVC improved its record to 12-10 overall and 4-5 in conference.
Moser also contributed three rebounds.
On the season, the guard out of St. Paul, is averaging 8.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
Irvine Valley plays again Wednesday in a key conference game against Santa Ana at 6 p.m.
