The Women's Basketball Classic starts Friday afternoon

The Irvine Valley women's basketball Classic, presented by Fast Action Basketball, starts Friday afternoon with games at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Teams include Irvine Valley, Modesto, Moorpark and Rio Hondo.

The Roadrunners and Raiders start with the first game at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Irvine Valley, ranked No. 12 in the state, takes on Modesto at 5 p.m.

Irvine Valley is coming off of a 72-44 win over Palo Verde last Tuesday.

Irvine Valley jumped out to a great start, leading 19-8, at the end of the first quarter and then, 38-16, at the half.

The Lasers improved their record to 8-0 overall, while Palo Verde fell to 1-8.

Irvine Valley had three players score in double figures. Freshman guard Christen Ziska led the team with 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Freshman guard Trasara Alexander added 15 points and seven rebounds and sophomore guard Kennedy Pucci contributed 11 points, four rebounds and six assists.

The tournament ends on Saturday with Rio Hondo playing Modesto at 3 p.m. and then Irvine Valley taking on No.15 in the state Moorpark at 5 p.m.
