Irvine Valley's men's tennis team prepped for its upcoming showdown with Riverside with an easy 9-0 Orange Empire Conference win over Fullerton on Tuesday at home.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference.
The team's only loss so far was to four-year Concordia University, which is ranked nationally in the NAIA.
Irvine Valley has now won five matches in a row. And in those five matches, IVC has shut out all of its opponents.
In the 15 sets played on Tuesday, Irvine Valley allowed just eight games as a team to Fullerton.
All six singles matches were won in straight sets by the Lasers.
Sophomore Steven Le, freshman Jack Divorty and freshman Kevin Pham each didn't give up a game in their singles matches.
Sophomore James Lafond and freshman Maxime Rumeau each allowed only one game in their singles contests.
At No. 1 singles, freshman Guillermo Ucelay beat Fullerton's Mathew Molroovey, 6-2, 6-0.
IVC also had an easy time in doubles.
The top team of Divorty and Le won, 8-3, over Fullerton's Molroovey and Mecir Ureta.
At No. 2 doubles, Pueyo and freshman Simon Guillin won, 8-1, and at No. 3 doubles, freshman Austin Do and Pham came through with an 8-0 victory.
Irvine Valley will host defending conference champion Riverside on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The match was scheduled for Thursday, but has been moved up a day due to rain in the forecast.
Riverside has a record of 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference. It defeated Cypress, 9-0, in a conference match on Tuesday.
The Lasers finished runner-up to Riverside in conference last season.
