Irvine Valley's men's soccer team came away with its second straight draw in Orange Empire Conference play.
The Lasers, ranked ninth in the state, tied Golden West, 2-2, in an Orange Empire Conference match that featured a wild second half at Irvine Valley on Tuesday.
All four goals by the two teams were scored in the second half and Golden West played the final 29 minutes with 10 men after a red card.
After a scoreless first half, Golden West took the lead right away in the second.
Only a minute in, Jorge Pineda played a ball forward to Joshua Featherston, who slipped behind the IVC defense and then slotted a shot past Irvine Valley freshman keeper Manuel Zamora.
Irvine Valley tied the match in the 53rd minute. Freshman forward Kendrick Nguyen won a ball in the corner and then crossed it into the box where freshman forward Toby Waterman volleyed it inside the near post.
But Golden West took a 2-1 lead three minutes later. After a foul was called in the box, Bryan De La Rosa made the penalty kick into the lower right corner.
Irvine Valley answered back in the 60th minute with a penalty kick of its own. Waterman converted the penalty into the upper left corner to tie the match at 2-2.
Just a minute later, Irvine Valley went up a man after Golden West's Miguel Hernandez was given a red card.
Both teams had chances the rest of the way. Irvine Valley freshman midfielder Albert Chavez had a shot saved by Golden West keeper Ignacio Monteon.
Golden West's Max Hubert's shot from close range was knocked away by Zamora.
A shot by the Rustlers' Adrian Montes was saved by Zamora.
IVC's Nguyen sent in a cross that was just over the head of Waterman and then in the final minute another cross by Nguyen was just out of the reach of Waterman in front of the net.
Zamora ended up making seven saves for the Lasers, while Monteon made four saves for Golden West.
The two goals were Waterman's team-high eighth and ninth of the season. He also leads the conference in goals and points.
Irvine Valley's record moved to 6-2-4 overall and 3-0-2 in conference and Golden West went to 6-2-4 overall and 2-1-2 in conference.
The Lasers went into the day tied for first place in the conference standings with Santa Ana. The Dons played at Santiago Canyon on Tuesday.
Irvine Valley plays host to Santa Ana on Friday at 3 p.m. in a battle for first place.
