Irvine Valley star sophomore men's basketbfall player Charlie Henderson has been named second team all-Orange Empire Conference for the 2022-23 season.
Henderson led the Lasers in scoring (13.3 points), rebounds (9.8) and blocks (1.4) this year and was the backbone of the team.
The forward/center scored in double figures in 17 games this past season with six games scoring more than 20 points.
His high was 28 points in a 68-61 loss at home to Santa Ana on Jan. 9.
Henderson recorded 15 games with double-digit rebounds, including five straight contests in December. Over those five games he had 57 boards.
He shot 50.2 percent from the field (147 of 293) on the season and 50.3 in conference play.
For a big man, Henderson was also a 38.5 percent shooter (25 of 65) in the OEC.
Henderson showed much improvement in his sophomore season after averaging 6.9 points and 5.8 rebounds during the 2021-22 campaign.
