Women's golf team goes unbeaten in first conference match

Irvine Valley's women's golf team finished with a record of 4-0 in the first Orange Empire Conference match of the season on Monday at the Costa Mesa Country Club.

Irvine Valley ended with a four-player team score of 347 to beat Saddleback (360), Orange Coast (369), Mt. SAC (376) and Fullerton (378).

IVC was paced by freshman Araceli Esquivel, who shot 79. She had one birdie, nine pars, six bogeys and two double bogeys.

Sophomore Marisa Bhanubandh came in at 81, freshman Akie Sannomiya carded 89 and sophomore Alexis McLachlan rounded out Irvine Valley's scorers with a 98.

Bhanubandh ended with nine pars, seven bogeys and two double bogeys and Sannomiya had two birdies, three pars, eight bogeys and two double bogeys during her round.

Freshman Esther Kim had the team's throw-out score at 121.

Irvine Valley plays again on Wednesday in another conference match at Diamond Bar at noon. The match is hosted by Fullerton.
