Women's basketball team earns hard-fought win on the road

Irvine Valley's women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 70-65 win at Rio Hondo in a non-conference game on Wednesday night.

The Lasers led, 27-24, at halftime.

The third quarter was the difference as Irvine Valley out-scored Rio Hondo, 21-12, to take a 48-36 lead.

The win improved Irvine Valley's record to 4-3 overall. The Lasers also snapped a two-game losing streak.

Sophomore guard Aaleah Brown led the way with 18 points for IVC.

A number of other players also had strong games.

Sophomore forward Kydell Pearson added 14 points and 11 rebounds, including six on the offensive vend, sophomore guard Serena Saba chipped in with 13 point, five rebounds and four assists and freshman forward Kiara Warren had nine points and five rebounds.

And freshman guards Mary Dishoian and Chasity Paopao each contributed seven points. Freshman forward Taylor Hall was solid on the defensive end with six rebounds and three blocked shots.

Irvine Valley plays again on Friday on the road. The Lasers are at El Camino at 6 p.m.
