Men's volleyball team makes quick work of Palomar

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team won its second straight match and did it in quick fashion.

The Lasers swept Palomar, 25-12, 25-13, 25-17, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference match on Friday night at home. The contest took just one hour to play.

Irvine Valley turned in one of its better performances of the season. The Lasers hit a season-high .594 as a team and served 11 aces over the three sets.

Sophomore middle blocker Robert Ryley hit perfect on the night with 11 kills in 11 attempts. He also had three block assists.

Freshman opposite Kyle Radecki had 10 kills and hit .529. He added four aces. Freshman middle blocker Jake Heinrichs finished with eight kills and hit .636. He contributed three block assists.

And freshman outside hitter Garret Costello ended with six kills and hit .364. Sophomore setter Peter Van Liefde ran the offense with 35 assists and had two aces.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 9-7 overall and 6-4 in conference play. The Lasers are in a three-way tie for third place in conference with Grossmont and San Diego Mesa.

IVC has one of its biggest matches of the season this Wednesday when it travels to Grossmont for a 6 p.m. match. Irvine Valley defeated Grossmont in five sets (15-13 in the fifth) on March 11 at IVC.
