Men's golf team opens season at Riverside Invitational

Irvine Valley's men's golf team opened up the 2014 season with a sixth-place finish in the Riverside Invitational at the Victoria Club in Riverside on Monday.

The event was scored as an Orange Empire Conference contest among the six teams.

Irvine Valley finished with a team score of 420.

Host Riverside won the invitational with a score of 361. Santiago Canyon was second at 368 and Orange Coast came in third at 379.

Irvine Valley's low scorer was sophomore Jed Meng, who finished with an 18-hole score of 81.

Freshman Jeff Lacambra came in at 83, sophomore Zach Chavous finished at 84, freshman Josh Whitesides carded an 86 and freshman Nate Noblitt scored 87.

Irvine Valley's throw-out scores came from sophomore ZacK Alcock, who finished at 90.

Irvine Valley plays again Feb. 10 and 12 at the conference's Tee Off Classic at Los Serranos in Chino Hills. Each day's rounds start at 10 a.m.
