Irvine Valley sophomore men's basketball player Zane Paddon has signed with NCAA Division II San Francisco State.
Paddon, a 6-7 forward, was a two-year player and started in four contests this past season for IVC.
A captain for Irvine Valley for the 2017-18 season, he averaged 6.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He also shot 52.6 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from three-point range.
Paddon scored in double figures in seven games and had a season-best 14 points in Irvine Valley's early season 75-58 win over Southwestern.
He had 10 rebounds in Irvine Valley's tough 63-59 defeat at Santa Ana in Orange Empire Conference play.
Paddon averaged 3.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game for IVC as a freshman off the bench during the 2016-17 season.
He has also been a standout off the court for the Lasers. Paddon was recently named Irvine Valley's male Champion of Character Award winner.
Paddon represents men's basketball on the IVC Dean's Council for Student-Athletes and is also a two-time IVC Scholar-Athlete.
Pending his spring 2018 grades, he will graduate in May with an AA in Accounting and a perfect 4.00 GPA.
Paddon also donates his time and energy to volunteer hours for the last six years for youth housed in alternative situations due to abusive family lives.
And he has remained a volunteer for two youth basketball organizations since his high school days.
Paddon, who came to Irvine Valley from Yorba Linda High, is headed to a San Francisco State squad that finished with a record of 19-11 overall this past season and was 14-8 in the CCAA.
