Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Mar. 11 is freshman men's tennis player Nick Grove.
He has helped Irvine Valley to a No. 1 ranking in the first ITA So. Cal ranking of the season this past week.
The Lasers have a record of 5-0 overall and are 4-0 in the Orange Empire Conference.
Grove is undefeated on the year in singles with all straight set wins. Grove and freshman Luciano Pardo are also unbeaten in doubles play as the No. 1 team for the Lasers.
Irvine Valley had one of its biggest wins of the sesaon last week, taking down No. 4 in the state Riverside, 7-2, on the road.
Grove and Pardo won, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles against and then Grove picked up a 7-5, 6-1 victory in the top singles spot.
Irvine Valley plays again on Tuesday at Saddleback.
