Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Jan. 22 is women's basketball player Makena Tomlinson.
The sophomore standout post player scored a season-high 30 points and added 13 rebounds as IVC went on the road and defeated Fullerton, 70-57, last Friday.
Tomlinson made 13 of her 17 shots from the field and went 4 of 5 from the free throw line for her 30 points. She grabbed seven offensive rebounds and six on the defensive end.
She also had one assist and two steals.
Tomlinson leads the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game and in rebounding at 9.6 rebounds a game.
She has scored in double figures in 13 games this season.
Tomlinson has helped lead IVC to a 12-6 record overall and a 2-1 mark in conference so far.
Irvine Valley plays again this Wednesday in a conference game at Cypress at 7 p.m.
