Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Dec. 4 is sophomore men's basketball player Jesse Stines.
The 6-6 post player was named to the all-tournament team after helping the Lasers to wins in two of three games at the Monterey Bay Classic.
His best game came in IVC's 58-45 victory over Hartnell in the consolation final on Saturday. Stines finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
He also had 10 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks as IVC defeated Foothill, 59-57, on Friday in a consolation game.
On the year, Stines is averaging a team-high 11.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.
He scored a season-best 22 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in Irvine Valley's 58-57 win at MiraCosta on Nov. 17. He had nine offensive rebounds in that contest.
The Lasers have a record of 6-2 overall on the year. IVC plays at Mt. San Antonio on Friday at 5 p.m.
