Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Sept. 18 is sophomore men's soccer player Ivan Lopez.
The standout forward helped IVC to two wins last week and has four goals and five assists on the year.
Lopez scored a goal in Irvine Valley's 2-1 win at Rio Hondo on Tuesday and then followed that up with one goal and one assist in IVC's 3-1 victory over San Diego Mesa at home on Friday.
Irvine Valley heads into this week with a record of 4-2-0 overall.
He leads the Orange Empire Conference in assists with five and is third in points with 13.
Lopez was named the co-MVP of the conference in 2021 when he scored eight goals and had seven assists for the Lasers for 23 points.
IVC had a record of 9-10-3 overall and reached the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.
