Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Feb. 19 is standout women's basketball player Christen Ziska.
The sophomore wing player scored in double figures in both of IVC's wins last week.
She had 14 points in the Lasers' 65-46 victory over Fullerton on Tuesday and then recorded 19 points in a 65-49 IVC triumph over Cypress on Thursday on Sophomore Night.
Against Cypress, Ziska made 7 of 11 shots from field and 4 of 7 from three-point range. She also added three rebounds and two assists in a team-high 33 minutes.
In Irvine Valley's win over Fullerton on Tuesday, Ziska added six rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes.
On the season, Ziska is averaging a team best 12.2 points per game. She also averages 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. She has made the most three-pointers on the team with 63.
Ziska has scored in double figures in 15 games and topped 20 points in five contests with a season-high 25 points in Irvine Valley's 81-68 victory at Golden West on Feb. 9.
Ziska has helped Irvine Valley to a record of 19-7 overall and 10-2 in the Orange Empire Conference. The Lasers are also ranked No. 12 in the state.
