Irvine Valley standout indoor and beach sophomore women's volleyball player Ava Guenther has committed to the University of La Verne.

She will play indoor volleyball at NCAA Division III University of La Verne.

A sophomore an opposite and outside hitter, Guenther, helped IVC win conference titles in both indoor and beach during the 2023-24 seasons and reach the 3C2A state tournament in indoor in the fall of 2023.

Irvine Valley (22-5 overall) claimed its second consecutive Orange Empire Conference Championship and fifth in six years with head coach Anna Unke leading the way in her first season at the helm for the Lasers in 2023.

Guenther, out of Tesoro High, averaged 2.91 kills and 1.43 digs per set overall in 26 matches for the Lasers in 2023.

This spring, Guenther has been steady on the fourth court for the IVC beach volleyball squad with sophomore teammate Felicia Bonus. The two helped IVC have a 14-0 record in conference and the pair was named second team all-conference.

She started her college career at Santa Barbara City College, averaging 1.86 kills per set in 2022.

Guenther is headed to a La Verne squad that had quite a year last fall. The Leopards, which compete in NCAA Division III, finished with a record of 25-5 overall and went 13-3 in the Southern California Intercolliagate Athletic Conference. 

The team made the DIII Women's Volleyball Tournament Regional Final.
