The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team was named the No. 4 seed for the 3C2A Regional Playoffs and will host a match next Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Irvine Valley will play the winner of No. 13 Pasadena and No. 20 San Bernardino Valley. Those two teams compete in the opening round on Saturday at Pasadena.
IVC finished the regular season as co-champion of the Orange Empire Conference. The Lasers also ended up ranked No. 10 in the state. They had a record of 19-4 overall and 13-3 in the OEC.
Irvine Valley also had four players named to all-conference teams. That story will be posted next week.
Sophomore middle blocker Natalia Brandlin and sophomore outside hitter Tessa Marocco were each named first team and sophomore setter Mia Bertolone and freshman libero Audrey Fowler were each picked to the second team in the OEC.
Brandlin ranked first in the OEC and state in hitting percentage at .447 and first in blocks per set at 1.21 in conference and fourth in the state.
Marocco was first in the conference in aces per set at 0.73 and was fourth in kills per set at 3.63 and third in total kills with 272.
Folwer ranked first in digs per set at 4.49 and total digs at 341 in the conference and Bertolone was first in assists per set in the OEC and led the state at 11.35.
Irvine Valley also got big-time contributions during the regular season from sophomore opposite Ava Guenther, freshman outside hitters Tatum Pongs and Olivia Ortega and sophomore middle blocker Avery Bennett.
Five teams total from the Orange Empire Conference reached the So. Cal. playoffs - No. 4 Irvine Valley, No. 5 Saddleback, No. 7 Cypress, No. 12 Orange Coast and No. 19 Riverside.
