Volleyball Alumni Report: Truth Hafey stars all-around for GSU

A total of 20 members of the Georgia State women's volleyball team earned fall semester academic honors.

And one of the players was former Irvine Valley standout setter Truth Hafey, who earned Fall 2021 Dean's List honors.

The Georgia State squad finished the fall with a 3.65 team GPA. 

Hafey was also a part of the 2022 spring A.D. Honor Roll.

She has been a Dean's list recipient since she arrived in Atlanta in the fall of 2020.

Hafey also helped Georgia State get to the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championship for the first time since joining the conference this past season.

The 5-7 setter played in 67 sets over 18 matches and ranked second on the team in assists with 269.

She posted a career-high 24 assists against Stetson (Sept. 10), averaged 4.01 assists per set and tallied 15 service aces on the year. 

Before Georgia State, Hafey played for two seasons at IVC under Tom Pestolesi.

She accumulated nearly 2000 assists for the Lasers, including 1,138 in her freshman campaign, which was the most in program history.

She averaged 12.27 assist per set, which was the most in the state. Hafey was named first team all-Southern California and first team all-Orange Empire Conference in here sophomore year.

Hafey helped the Lasers to a record 48-3 in her two years (2018 and 2019) and two OEC titles.

The Lasers went 27-1 in 2019 and fell in the CCCAA state final in five sets to Feather River. Hafey had 51 assists for the Lasers in that title match at Southwestern College.
